Hotels in Evpatoria, showing 27
In 2003, one of the most beautiful Crimean resorts celebrated its 2500th anniversary. It is believed that the first settlement on the territory of Evpatoria was the Greek city of Kerkinitida, whose inhabitants were active in trade with other ancient cities, minted their own coins and were engaged in winemaking. In the II century BC. e. Kerkinitida was captured by the Scythians. And although the port was soon liberated by the troops of Diophantus, the native citizens chose not to return to their former place of residence, but moved to the vicinity of Chersonesos. With its own modest size, Evpatoria is a resort with a solid architectural and cultural heritage, reminiscent of the glorious history of the Kezlev fortress. The most elementary way to travel back in time is to get into the Old Town, which is a historical quarter, conditionally bounded by Internatsionalnaya, Perekopskaya and Pionerskaya streets. This piece of the city is tempting because the buildings and planning of the times of the Turkish dominance in Crimea are perfectly preserved here. City promenade named after Gorky, which is considered one of the most beautiful in Crimea. It was renovated and refurbished in 2003. The promenade starts from Frunze Street near the sculpture of Hercules and stretches for 800 meters along the coastal strip to Duvanovskaya Street. Architectural sights, beaches, souvenir shops, restaurants and attractions are concentrated along the embankment. For tourists, you can visit the Juma-Jami Mosque - the main Muslim temple in Yevpatoria, which has the status of a Friday mosque. The building was erected in the 16th century during the reign of Khan Devlet I Gerai (Girey). Over the next centuries, it was restored and rebuilt more than once. During the communist rule, Juma-Jami served as a museum. In the 1990s. the building was returned to the Muslim community of Evpatoria.
