Entertainment and sightseeing in Suzdal

It is impossible to get acquainted with Suzdal without visiting its main attractions - the Kremlin, the Museum of Wooden Architecture and the Spaso-Evfimievsky Monastery. The millennia-old white stone Suzdal Kremlin rises in the oldest part of the city - at the bend of Kamenka River.

The Kremlin complex includes the Archaeological Chambers, St. Nicholas Church and the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary - one of the oldest in the city, even before the Mongol period. The old wooden buildings: huts, barns, mills and temples that survived in the vicinity of Suzdal are collected in one place - in the Museum of Wooden Architecture and Peasant Life. The architectural complex of the Spaso-Evfimevsky Monastery is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. It features museum expositions and storages. The bell ringing sounds several times a day from the monastery bell ringer. There are 5 monasteries in the city. Spaso-Evfimiev, Pokrovsky, Rizopolozhensky, and Aleksandrovsky are all in close proximity to each other, and only Vasilyevsky is located on the eastern outskirts, near the bus station. The Pokrovsky Monastery is known as the last abode of aristocratic families. Its wives were exiled here by Ivan the Terrible, Vasily III and Peter I. Local temples are notable for their unusual architecture - there are no churches with concave pavilions, except Suzdal. The most beautiful churches in the city are St. Antipas and the five-domed St. Lazarus Cathedral on Old Street. In addition to the excursion program in Suzdal, there is a wide range of master classes - you can learn how to make dishes from clay on a potter's wheel, bake curled pretzels or weave onions from birch bark. Those who wish can take part in a master class on painting a fresco in a real icon painting workshop or learn to forge in a blacksmith.
