Kostroma: what to see the tourist

The city of Kostroma has the following attractions: different kinds of temples, monasteries and museums. But since we are going to introduce you to the temples and museums of Kostroma, we are going to introduce you a little bit below.

Monument to Ivan Susanin

The monumental construction in the city center, on Susaninskaya Square, was installed in the glory of the most famous resident of Kostroma region. The monument is attractive, primarily for its impressive size. Otherwise, the monument looks quite simple and utilitarian, but if you are in Kostroma, you should take a photo with it.

Firefighting kalancha

Fire kalancha is another symbol of Kostroma, which also decorates Susaninskaya Square. The fire kalancha lost its significance many decades ago, but still continues to please the eyes of citizens and guests.

Ostrovsky's arbor

Many of us or our parents have been, or may still be, collecting anniversary coins. And many may remember the old jubilee ten-ruble coin with the image of Kostroma. It depicts Ostrovsky's gazebo, which offers a rather interesting view of the Volga River, and in which Alexander Nikolaevich Ostrovsky himself has never been. However, there is a legend that says that while in Kostroma, Alexander Nikolaevich stood on the very place where the gazebo is now located, while contemplating the majestic Volga.

Kostroma "frying pan"

The "frying pan" kostromichi call a patch, located directly in the city center (on Susaninskaya Square), or rather a circle half a meter in diameter, which indicates the direction of the main streets of the city.

Kostroma trade rows

And again a landmark, located on Susaninskaya Square. It is one of the largest surviving shopping malls in Russia in 18-19 centuries. The best place to come here is either early in the morning or late in the evening, when there are no traders in the trading rows yet or already.

Shopping and stores

There are about six large shopping centers in Kostroma, the most popular among the Kostroma residents is the 'Collage' shopping center. It is here that the largest number of brand stores and entertainment facilities (bowling, cinema, and restaurants) are concentrated. On the other bank of the Volga River is an opponent of "Collage" - shopping center "Rio", which has even if not so impressive area, but not inferior in number of branded pieces.
